Styles of self management

Agency Managed

  • Agency pays bills
  • Participant selects providers and certifies that supports have been provided.

Shared Management 

  • FINANCIAL INTERMEDIARY holds funds and manages risk on behalf of participant
  • TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE enabled through a broader SERVICE INTERMEDIARY role assists with recruitment, training support and employment of staff
  • SUPPORT COORDINATION

Self Management or direct funding

  • Individual receives funding package directly
  • Responsibility for entire package and budget
  • Recruits and pays staff and manages all human resources issues
  • Sources services related to 
  • Individual manages risk and insurance
  • Accountable to NDIA and for all records requested for any legal auditing process

Plan Manager

  • Individual receives funding package directly and is supported to remain within their budget guide.
  • Individuals are responsible for goal related choices, to allocate expenditure and recruitment of workers or to find desired support services
  • Plan manager is responsible for payment of wages and withholding tax and all invoices. Plan mangers operate within approved and designated budgets and claims within item lines.
  • They are accountable to the NDIA for records and legally for book keeping, and your tax support reports.
  • Plan managers may be audited by the NDIS
